GIRLS XC ALL-IN CAMP
ACHS girls cross country coaching staff offer a summer long training camp for girls entering grades 8th-12th. Younger, experienced runners will be accepted on a case-by-case basis. The Centennial staff will implement several running workouts as well as teach the purpose each has within the training program. The staff will also incorporate a strength and mobility program to assist in injury prevention and to improve flexibility. Truly get a leg up on the competition!
Workouts will utilize a GPS watch, which Coach Cogdill will supply as needed. The watch will provide important feedback on time, distance, and pace. That feedback will allow for each runner to have an individual training plan that is adjusted weekly based on age, history, ability, fatigue, and performance demonstrated in prior weeks. Each route will be pre-planned for safety and water will be provided along the route.
Treats and games will occur often to keep the training fun. Also, every Saturday will include destination runs that require carpooling to locations or nature trails that offer terrains and surfaces not available near the school.
To accommodate for different schedules, the camp will meet on Wednesday through Saturday mornings (7:30am-9:30am) as well as evenings (7:30pm-9:00pm) Sunday through Wednesday. In all, there are 8 sessions available any given week. However, only the more experienced runners should attend 6 or more sessions weekly. Less experienced runners should aim for 3-5 sessions a week. Day 1 is 7:30am on Saturday, June 4th @ ACHS. Camp will not meet June 24th-26th.
Campers attending at least 25 sessions (just under 3 per week) will receive a camp shirt.
Campers attending at least 40 sessions (just under 5 per week) will receive a camp shirt + a bonus item to be determined by the athletes.
LOCATION: Ankeny Centennial High School
*NOTE: No Camp June 24th - 26th
